When I started college at the University of Wisconsin, I was torn as to whether to pursue a post graduate degree from Medical School or Law School. One semester of Organic Chemistry was enough to convince me to choose Law School. It certainly helped that my Father and Grandfather were also both attorneys, so I have been familiar with the legal profession my whole life. Maybe that explains why my favorite subject in high school was American Public Policy – a class which focused on government and our court system.
I graduated from college in December 2001, and before applying to law schools, I decided that I could benefit from some “real life” legal experience. So, I accepted a job as a legal assistant to the Chief Legal Officer of a major construction company. The legal assistant position convinced me that law was my path, so I attended Marquette University Law School and was admitted to the bar in the State of Wisconsin after I graduated in 2005. I am also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. During my time at law school, I also worked as a law clerk at a firm that ultimately hired me as an associate attorney after graduation, and I remained there for over eight years.
I am excited to continue my practice at J Peterman Legal Group Ltd. I concentrate my practice mainly on civil litigation, estate planning, and corporate representation. I am experienced in all aspects of civil litigation in both state and federal courts. My estate planning practice focuses on wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, power of attorneys and healthcare power of attorneys, and my favorite – a trust within a will. My corporate representation will include advice on which form of organization best suits your needs be it a Corporation or LLC. I can also assist in managing and maintaining your corporate books, drafting buy/sell agreements, advising on succession planning, and negotiating, preparing and reviewing contracts. As I look back – law was definitely the right choice!
